The counterfeit notes, amounting to several lakhs, were being transported on a scooter

Digital Desk: The Basistha Police  and the STF Special Task Force carried out the joint operation, which resulted in a fake currency racket bust-up in Guwahati while seizing counterfeit notes worth several lakhs. The police stopped Abedur Rahman while he was transporting fake notes by scooter at Kerakuchi.

Officials confirmed that Abedur Rahman had allegedly brought the counterfeit money from Hajo, in Assam.  Acting on specific intelligence with planned action, that allowed the police conducted an operation that resulted in intercepting illicit fake money before its distribution throughout the market.

Counterfeit currency circulation in the region has become an increasing concern based on the results of the police operation. Authorities continue working to uncover the entire organization behind the illicit trade and search for criminal network connections throughout their probe.

The accused is currently in custody, and further legal proceedings are underway.
