Rabha had attempted to sell the stolen batteries in the Fancy Bazar area

Digital Desk: In a swift action Guwahati Police made a quick arrest of four habitual l offenders who stole ATM machine batteries from Guwahati and were arrested within 24 hours. On 1st  May , 2025 the  branch manager of SBI Lachit Nagar filed an FIR to report that crime, that on 30th April six ATM  batteries were stolen.

Acting promptly, the police immediately collected CCTV footage from the scene while they engaged their network of local sources for information. Durgeswar Rabha who turned out to be one of the burglars was  arrested on the same day. The authorities tracked three additional suspects who joined Durgeswar Rabha after his arrest prompting their capture.

During interrogation, it was revealed that Durgeswar Rabha tried to sell the stolen batteries in the Fancy Bazar area on 1st May  until police from the Fancy Bazar Outpost caught him. The arrested people were involved in similar unlawful actions previously resulting in their detention for theft crimes.

The police continue their investigation and are verifying if the group is linked to other recent ATM-related thefts in the region.
