Digital Desk: An attempted child abduction near DAV School in Ulubari sparked widespread panic today after a miscreant tried to kidnap a Class IV student.


The suspect, identified as Pradip Das from Barpeta district, reportedly disguised himself as a beggar and attempted to lure the 10-year-old boy with chocolates.


The situation took a dramatic turn when the child managed to escape from the man's grasp.


Despite being chased by the accused, the boy fled toward B. Barooah College, where local citizens intervened.


The residents quickly surrounded and apprehended the suspect before he could escape.


Paltan Bazar police was immediately notified and arrived at the scene to take Pradip Das into custody.


The victim, son of Ashok Basfor and Hemanti Basfor from Solapara, was safely reunited with his parents.


An FIR has been lodged at the Paltan Bazar Police Station as investigations continue into the incident.
