Guwahati: The European Union is poised to accelerate investment and foster industrial collaboration in Assam, a development that could significantly benefit the entire Northeastern region, according to EU Ambassador to India, Herve Delphin. His remarks came on Tuesday, coinciding with the launch of the Blue Valley Cluster, an initiative designed to enhance cooperation in developing vital ecosystems and value chains across sectors of mutual interest.
The newly inaugurated Blue Valley Cluster, focusing on 'Flavours, Fragrance and AYUSH', is spearheaded by the Assam government. Officials noted that the cluster aligns strategically with the priorities outlined in the EU-India Comprehensive Strategic Agenda, which was established during the EU-India Summit in January. This alignment underscores a deeper commitment to practical cooperation at the regional and state levels, transforming broader partnership objectives into tangible outcomes.
Ambassador Delphin emphasized the cluster's potential as a catalyst for research, innovation, investment, and industrial collaboration between European and Indian companies and entities. The launch event in Guwahati saw the presence of several dignitaries, including Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Belgian Ambassador Didier Vanderhasselt, and Secretary (West) in the Ministry of External Affairs, Sibi George, among other officials, signifying the high-level commitment to this partnership.
This initiative marks a pivotal step in strengthening economic ties between the EU and India, with Assam positioned to play a crucial role in attracting foreign investment and driving regional growth. The focus on unique sectors like flavours, fragrance, and AYUSH also highlights the region's distinct potential and appeal for international collaboration.
