Guwahati recently embraced the fusion of fashion and environmental consciousness with the 'Green Runway Assam 2026' event, held at Nehru Park. The initiative, themed "Fashioning a Greener Future," marked World Environment Day by advocating for sustainable living through eco-friendly fashion trends and practices.
Organised in a collaborative effort with the Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) and the National Health Mission (NHM), Assam, the event drew approximately 200 guests and invitees. Organisers conveyed their appreciation to various supporting officials and sponsors whose contributions made the awareness-driven initiative possible, underscoring its focus on eco-conscious fashion and broader environmental awareness.
The significance of sustainability was a central theme throughout the event. Esteemed speakers, including Dr. B. Kalyan Chakravarthy, IAS, and retired IAS officer Swapnanil Barua, delivered compelling addresses that highlighted the urgent need for sustainable practices in all spheres of life.
The runway segment featured 21 models, with Moon Das gracing the stage as the showstopper. They elegantly presented sustainable fashion collections crafted by designers Meghna Rai Medhi and Papli Gogoi. Beyond the garments, the showcase also incorporated unique bamboo and fusion jewellery, complemented by engaging live musical performances, all meticulously coordinated by multiple production and creative teams.
Green Runway Assam 2026 served as a vibrant platform to demonstrate that style and environmental responsibility can coexist harmoniously, inspiring attendees to consider more sustainable choices in their daily lives and contributing to a greener future for the region.
