Digital Desk: A wave of outrage has swept through Tamarhat following the tragic death of Khadija Parveen, a Class III student, who succumbed to a snakebite.

The incident has sparked massive protests, with local residents blocking National Highway 127(B) and bringing traffic to a standstill.

The unrest centers on allegations of severe medical negligence at the Tamarhat Primary Health Centre.

Protesters claim that despite the availability of anti-venom, pharmacist Ekramul Haque Talukdar failed to administer the life-saving treatment, instead discharging the young girl and claiming she was stable.

Following the public outcry, police detained Ekramul Haque Talukdar late at night.

Protesters are demanding the pharmacist's immediate suspension and legal prosecution, alongside financial compensation for the victim's family.

They are also calling for the urgent appointment of experienced doctors at the health centre.

Dhubri District Joint Health Director Jyoti Kumar Das visited the protest site and assured that a comprehensive investigation is underway and strict action will be taken against anyone found guilty of professional misconduct.
