Digital Desk: Recently trending thing to see on Google, try typing 'Bharat' into Google Maps' search box, it now displays as a "Country in South Asia" accompanied by the Indian flag digital code. 

Whether you use Google Maps in Hindi or English, searching "Bharat" will get the same results as searching "India." Both "India" and "Bharat" are officially accepted as "Countries in South Asia," and Google Maps users can use either "Bharat" or "India" to view the official Indian map.

Not just Google Maps, but Google offers users the choice to use both "Bharat" and "India" to receive identical results across products such as Search, Translator, and News, among others. While no official notice from Google has been issued, a simple search reveals the adjustments Google may have made in the background.

At first, a railway ministry proposal to the Union Cabinet skipped the word "India" and replaced it with "Bharat" completely.

If you look closely at the Hindi language, you will see that Google is now choosing to utilise "भारत" instead of “इंडिया".

 In addition, the English-to-Hindi translation always featured India in English and "भारत" in Hindi. Other nouns for "India" that Google Translate suggests are “हिंदुस्तान" and “भारतवर्ष".
