Digital Desk: Jorhat Police has successfully arrested a gang allegedly responsible for thefts at two flats in the town earlier this month.


The arrests were made following a thorough investigation, which led police personnel to Dolgaon in Darrang district.


In addition to the gang members, two individuals linked to establishments, where the stolen jewellery was sold have also been taken into custody.


The arrested thieves have been identified as Lukman Ali, Saidur Rahman, and Nur Ahmed Ali.


Meanwhile, the two individuals accused of purchasing the stolen jewellery are Abu Bakar Siddiqui from Dolgaon in Darrang district and Imran Ahmed from Chapra in Barpeta district.


Police have recovered several mobile phones from the suspects.


Reports indicate that the thefts took place on February 5 and 7 at Madhukunj Apartment and ABG Heights in Jorhat.


Based on CCTV footage collected, the police were able to track down and arrest the gang. Interrogation of the accused is currently ongoing.
