Will the people of Assam bear the brunt of DGP GP Singh's verbal spat with ULFA-I?...

Digital Desk: Assam police brutal rule in the name of suppressing ULFA, In recent days, there have been instances involving five Assamese youths who were arrested and were later held on suspicion of having links with ULFA-I.

As per the general public, Assam Police appears to have frequently sought to cover up its failings, and cruel torture has become a normal occurrence as a result.

As a result, Unable to face the physical and mental torment inflicted by the Assam Police, among the five arrested Assamese youngsters on suspicion of having affiliations with the ULFA-I and the Jorhat Grenade Blast, a 24-year-old Dipankar Gogoi took an extreme measure to end up his life.

The family claims that Dipankar Gogoi of Birinasayek village in Titabor, Assam has been tortured for the past few days on suspicion of being implicated in the Jorhat grenade incident.

His body was discovered swinging on a tree (lifeless) in the tea garden at the back of the house by his father.

Dipankar Gogoi, who had gone to join the ULFA five years ago, was also brought back by the Assam Rifles in Arunachal.

Many have questioned whether GP Singh had begun torturing Assamese for not getting Paresh Baruah. However, many fear a repetition of the 1990s' terrible phase as the recent occurrences in Assam have explained this.

As of now, these encounters have occurred in Sivasagar, Rangia, and Sadiya.

Quest hovers now why did the Assam Police have to encounter five young people? Is the Assam Police so weak that repeated detainees can flee out of their cells?

The fake encounter has resulted in the Assam Police being held liable in court. Even after all of this, the number of encounters in Assam has not decreased.

Taking a dig at both ULFA-I leader Paresh Baruah and Assam DGP GP Singh's verbal spat, Raijor Dol President Akhil Gogoi criticised them and remarked, "If a grenade explodes in Assam it hurts the Assamese people. The centre's decision to sign a peace agreement will bear no fruit. Centre doesn't want us to grant the 371 A, ULFA's main demand was demand of independent Assam, will that issue be discussed during the peace agreement?

It is to be mentioned that the government has invited Paresh Baruah to the negotiation table. While several youths have been turned around on suspicion of ULFA and were killed, regarding it people have once again questioned what benefit will it make by forging peace. Many have also questioned how GP Singh can promote peace while physically and mentally torturing people in Assam by bringing Paresh Baruah into the Verbal Spat.
