Digital Desk: Karim Janat reached a career highlight by getting his IPL debut cap from Rashid Khan before the RR vs GT match at IPL 2025. The Gujarat Titans team acquired its fourth Afghan national cricket player when Janat joined Rashid Khan, together with other teammates Noor Ahmad and Azmatullah Omarzai.
The cricketer Karim Janat comes from a family that loves the sport, and he has Asghar Afghan as his younger brother, who served as the captain of Afghanistan. Since childhood Janat developed a strong passion for cricket as his brothers brought him into the game and several of his brothers pursued cricket as a sports activity. Karim stated that among his nine siblings of there were seven of them who were interested in cricket. My brother Asghar joined cricket matches under our elder sibling, and I decided to walk in his footsteps after him. Both tennis and cricket were his favourite and in fact he was also interested in studies. After joining the Kabul Cricket Academy, I developed a genuine enthusiasm for the game, which started that moment.
Karim Janat rose to prominence player by achieving 273 runs at the 2016 U-19 World Cup tournament. Following his early focus on batting skills, he has developed his bowling speed to reach 140 km/h during his matches. During the 2017 Ghazi Amanullah Regional ODI Tournament, he shared the record for the most wickets taken which proved his developing abilities as an all-rounder.
His inclusion adds more depth and versatility to the Gujarat Titans lineup. In the tournament, Janat will likely have a significant impact because he demonstrates power-hitting capability and provides fast bowling services.
