Digital Desk: India and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) fast bowler Harshit Rana is set to miss a significant part of the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season after undergoing knee surgery in February.

As per reports, the right-arm pacer sustained a ligament strain in his right knee during a warm-up fixture of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup against South Africa. He was forced to pull out after bowling just one over. Rana is currently undergoing rehabilitation, and there has been no official confirmation regarding his return timeline from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) medical team.

Despite the setback, Rana was recently honoured with the Best International Debutant award at the BCCI Naman Awards 2026. He was replaced in the main tournament by Mohammed Siraj, who featured in only one match, India’s opening game against the United States.

Meanwhile, KKR will also be without Mustafizur Rahman, after the BCCI reportedly instructed the franchise to release the Bangladesh pacer amid strained geopolitical relations between India and Bangladesh earlier this year.

As a replacement, KKR have signed Blessing Muzarabani, who recently parted ways with Islamabad United in the Pakistan Super League.

However, it is worth noting that neither KKR nor the IPL has made any official announcement regarding Rana’s unavailability for a major part of the 2026 season.

KKR Squad for IPL 2026:

Ajinkya Rahane, Angkrish Raghuvanshi, Anukul Roy, Harshit Rana, Manish Pandey, Ramandeep Singh, Rinku Singh, Rovman Powell, Sunil Narine, Umran Malik, Vaibhav Arora, Varun Chakaravarthy, Cameron Green, Finn Allen, Matheesha Pathirana, Tejasvi Singh, Kartik Tyagi, Prashant Solanki, Rahul Tripathi, Tim Seifert, Sarthak Ranjan, Daksh Kamra, Rachin Ravindra, Akash Deep, Blessing Muzarabani.
