Digital Desk: Today, AT 7PM the defending champions India national cricket team will take on the West Indies cricket team in a virtual quarter-final of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, with a place in the semi-finals at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, India

The winner of the crucial Super 8 clash at Eden Gardens will join England cricket team, South Africa national cricket team, and New Zealand national cricket team in the last four.

New Zealand secured their semi-final berth on Saturday after Pakistan national cricket team failed to surpass their net run rate despite defeating Sri Lanka national cricket team by five runs in Kandy.

For India and the West Indies, however, the qualification equation is straightforward , win on Sunday and advance to the semi-finals.

India bounced back strongly in their previous Super 8 fixture against Zimbabwe national cricket team after suffering a defeat to South Africa last week.

Both teams are currently tied on two points from two matches, but West Indies hold a significant advantage in Net Run Rate (+1.791) compared to India (-0.100). As a result, if the match is washed out due to rain, West Indies will progress to the semi-finals, while India will be eliminated from the tournament on home soil.

According to weather forecasts, rain is unlikely to disrupt proceedings in Kolkata. AccuWeather predicts a zero per cent chance of precipitation on match day, with temperatures expected to range between 24 and 31 degrees Celsius during the evening.

Although the outcome of the South Africa versus Zimbabwe match will have minimal impact on qualification, India, West Indies, and South Africa all remain in contention to finish at the top of the group.

The group winners will face New Zealand in the semi-final, while the second-placed team will take on Group 2 toppers England in the other last-four clash.
