Digital Desk: A strong protest took place in Sivasagar, which was led by the Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) and Satra Mukti Sangram Samiti (SMSS).

The protesters burnt the effigies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma at the Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC) bus stand.

The protest was organised to oppose the Prime Minister's visit to Assam.

The demonstrators raised slogans such as "Go back, Narendra Modi" and "BJP government murdabad" during the protest.

Both organisations expressed outrage over the detention of KMSS and SMSS members by Golaghat Police.

The protesters alleged that police displayed authoritarian behaviour by detaining Bidyut Saikia of KMSS outside his house.

During the protests, SMSS protesters labeled PM Modi as a liar and demanded answers regarding his promise to expel Bangladeshi infiltrators who entered Assam after May 16, 2024.
