As per reports, there are four cases against Chida Das for theft of television sets, inverter batteries, and vehicles.

Digital Desk: A man from Lakhimpur, who has multiple theft cases against him, received Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma's Rongali Bihu gift of gamusa (traditional scarf or towel), which is originally meant for eminent persons of the state.

Chida Das of Bosagaon, Lakhimpur, who has multiple cases against him since 2016, received the gift from the village headman, raising concerns among people regarding the selection of recipients by the Assam government.  
 
As per reports, there are four cases against Chida Das for theft of television sets, inverter batteries, and vehicles.

A government official later informed that they have no idea how the name of Das got into the list. They had forwarded the gifts to the local authorities for distribution, he added.

CM Sarma extends Bihu greetings wrapped in a gift box and is being distributed among different eminent persons of the state, marking the beginning of the Assamese new year.
The incident went viral on social media platforms after the village headman took a photograph of the presentation.

However, sources have claimed that the incident could be the result of human error while shortlisting recipients.
