Digital Desk: In a significant decision ahead of Rongali Bihu, the Assam government announced a 2% Dearness Allowance (DA) hike for its employees and pensioners. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on April 4 announced that the State Cabinet has approved the latest DA revision, which will be effective from January 1, 2025.

Briefing media after the Cabinet meeting, CM Sarma said, "We will add the 2% DA along with the salary before the Rongali Bihu and arrears will be given in April and May."

The latest announcement follows a 3% DA hike in October 2024, effective from July 2024.
After the announcement, the DA increases from 53% to 55%, reflecting the Assam government's efforts to employee welfare.    

The hike will ensure financial relief for government employees and pensioners amid rising inflation.
