At least 35 acres of poppy plantation worth Rs 3.90 crore were destroyed during the operation under the Saikul Police Station area of the Kangpokpi district.

Digital Desk: In a joint operation between security forces and the Forest Division of Kangpokpi, under the supervision of the Sub-Divisional Magistrate(SDM), identified and destroyed an illegal plantation of poppy in the hill ranges at the Naphai area in the Kangpokpi district. At least 35 acres of poppy plantation worth Rs 3.90 crore were destroyed during the operation under the Saikul Police Station area of the Kangpokpi district.

Taking to X, Manipur Police said, "On February 25, Security Forces and Forest Division, Kangpokpi, in the presence of the SDM, Kangpokpi, destroyed illegal poppy plantations at the Hill Ranges of Naphai. 35 acres worth about Rs 3 crores 90 lakhs were destroyed each under Saikul-PS, Kangpokpi District."

In a bid to combat illegal drug supply and action against unlawful activities in the Northeastern region, authorities are conducting several operations to eliminate such trade.
