The insurgent leader was arrested at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Borjhar

Digital Desk: The Guwahati police have made another arrest of a Manipur-based militant.The insurgent leader was arrested at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Borjhar before traveling to Tinsukia.

Identified as Krongbeilatpam Bicharup, he is a top leader and the financial secretary of the banned outfit KYKL (Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup). He had come to  Assam to execute a weaponry procurement deal before beginning negotiations with ULFA-Independent (ULFA-I) at the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh adjoining border.

The leader played a key role in militant operations while making arrangements for weapons procurement with ULFA-I. Bicharup held a previous position as the military second-in-command of another fighter organization.

Before this arrest, Bicharup was taken into custody with weapons in Manipur's Moreh region and he stayed hidden somewhere abroad. Security forces have disrupted the planned militant negotiations in Assam,a where Bicharup had returned.
