NIA has caught a terror operator who was using social media to support ISIS's agenda...

Digital Desk: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) apprehended a 19-year-old terror operative who is also a student at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) in Uttar Pradesh on Thursday, as part of its ongoing crackdown on ISIS terror modules operating in the nation.

The investigation agency apprehended Faizan Ansari after searching his home and rented housing in two separate states.

The searches took place on July 16 and 17 in the Jharkhand region of Lohardaga and a leased room in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh.

During the search, the agents discovered many electronic devices and incriminating documents. Following the raids, the NIA apprehended Faizan.

According to the investigation agency, Faizan, together with his accomplices and other unknown individuals, devised a criminal conspiracy to promote ISIS activities in India via a social media platform.

However, as per the agency, Faizan was involved in propagating the outfit's propaganda across multiple social media platforms, to carry out "violent terror attacks" in India on behalf of ISIS.

According to the agency, Fziaan was actively involved in radicalising neo-converts and luring them into the terrorist fold to "enrich the cadre base of ISIS in India."

He was also in communication with foreign-based ISIS supervisors who were directing him through the recruitment process.

On July 19, the NIA filed a complaint under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA).

Meanwhile, an investigation is currently underway to determine all aspects of the global plot.
