On 11 October 2024, Noel Tata the vice chairman of Tata Steel and chairman of Tata Trent was announced as the new chairman of Tata Trust after the death of Ratan Tata on October 9, Wednesday. at Mumbai Breach Candy Hospital, at the age of 86 due to old age. Mr. Tata was a renowned industrialist known for being a down to earth person and for his love of pets. Noel Tata, his half brother, will be his successor as per the decisions taken by the board of the Tata Trusts.
Noel's appointment is a significant one because the Tata Trusts group covers 66% stakes in Tata Sons. He will be the 6th chairman of Sir Ratan Tata Trust and the 11th chairman of Sir Dorabji Tata Trust
