CR Paatil said that a roadmap was prepared with three options in the meeting. He added that the Indian government is working on short-term, medium-term, and long-term measures so that not even a single drop of water goes to neighbouring country Pakistan.

Digital Desk: Union Jal Shakti Minister CR Paatil on Friday said that the Central Government has developed a comprehensive strategy to make sure "not a single drop of water" flows into Pakistan from India.

CR Paatil said that a roadmap was prepared with three options in the meeting. He added that the Indian government is working on short-term, medium-term, and long-term measures so that not even a single drop of water goes to neighbouring country Pakistan.

Earlier on Friday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah held a key meeting with CR Paatil to discuss the future course of action on the Indus Waters Treaty with Pakistan. The meeting was also attended by several senior officials of different ministries.

The meeting focused on how to implement the decision of the Indus Waters Treaty suspension.

India's Water Resources Secretary Debashree Mukherjee in a letter to Pakistan's counterpart wrote that sustained cross-border terrorism by Pakistan targeting Jammu and Kashmir obstructs India's rights under the Indus Waters Treaty.

The Indus Waters Treaty is a water-distribution treaty between India and Pakistan, arranged and negotiated by the World Bank, to use the water available in the Indus River and its tributaries. The treaty was signed in Karachi on September 19, 1960 by then Indian Prime Minister Jawahalal Nehru and then Pakistani President Ayub Khan.
