As per report, Ranesh was involved in a case of chain snatching in the Sundarpur area on April 29. Later, he was arrested from Nalbari during a raid in the afternoon.

Digital Desk: A notorious criminal, identified as Ranesh Daimari alias Raju, who was involved in over a hundred cases of theft, robbery, and kidnapping, sustained injuries after Guwahati Police opened fire in Jalukari on Tuesday night. The firing occurred when the criminal attempted to escape from police custody.

As per report, Ranesh was involved in a case of chain snatching in the Sundarpur area on April 29. Later, he was arrested from Nalbari during a raid in the afternoon.

The police opened fire in self-defence after the notorious criminal tried to escape police custody.

Ranesh was previously arrested in December 2004 in connection with 24 criminal cases. However, he was released just ten days before his recent chain-snatching incident in Sundarpur.

During that arrest, he was shot at 13 Miles of Jorabat while trying to escape the police custody.

Later, he was released from jail on April 10 and resumed robbery in five places in Dispur from April 17.

The City police also arrested another robbery member of the chain snatching case, identified as Mahidul. 

Ranesh was involved in many crimes including car theft, robbery, and abduction. He was involved in many robbery cases across Assam including Guwahati.

He has more than 100 cases against him in various police stations in Assam. 

He had close ties with another criminal named Boga- a most wanted car thief, recently shot dead in an encounter.
