In the early morning of Wednesday, rescued passengers were brought to Quetta, escorted by security forces.

Digital Desk: The Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) has positioned suicide bombers wearing suicide vests and sitting next to the captivated passengers, which complicated the rescue efforts of the security forces.

As per Pakistani security forces, the gunfight between military forces and militant group continued overnight, and 155 hostages were rescued, including women and children. An operation is underway to free other hostages. The security forces have stated that at least 27 militants were killed during their rescue operation. 

In the early morning of Wednesday, rescued passengers were brought to Quetta, escorted by security forces.

In a statement on Tuesday, the BLA claimed to have killed 30 Pakistani Army personnel. The train driver was reportedly injured in the firing on Tuesday.

The nine-coach Jaffar Express with around 500 people, was heading towards Peshawar from Quetta when it was hijacked by armed men on Tuesday after blowing up a railway track.

BLA is the largest of several ethnic militant organizations based in the mineral-rich Balochistan region, bordering Afghanistan and Iran.
