No weapons or incriminating material were found in his possession at the time of the arrest

Digital Desk: In a significant development, a  26-year-old intruder from Pakistan was arrested by the  Indian Army after he illegally crossed the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district. The arrest of the Pakistani national comes at the time of heightened tensions between the two countries following a terror attack in Pahalgam, which killed 26 tourists including mostly foreign visitors. Since the attack, the border witnesses constant ceasefire violations every day since the attack took place.

Indian Army soldiers identified the intruder and entered  into Indian territory at a forward village near the Chakan-Da-Bagh area. Waqas emerged as the trespasser, having origins in Tarkhal village located in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

According to officials, Initial investigations showed Waqas accidentally strayed past the Line of Control border. No illegal weapons or incriminating material were discovered on Waqas when Indian law enforcement officers arrested him.

The ongoing investigation exposes the tenuous circumstances in the border region while simultaneously increasing concerns regarding border crossing during the existing heightened security tension. State authorities take this incident seriously because of the rising conflicts and strained diplomatic relations between the two nations.
