Digital Desk: The Joha rice, grown primarily in Assam in northeastern India, is useful in decreasing blood glucose and preventing diabetes. Joha is a short-grain winter rice with a distinctive flavour and flavour.

Scientists at the Institute of Advanced Study in Science and Technology (IASST), an autonomous institute of the Department of Science and Technology, investigated the nutraceutical qualities of aromatic Joha rice in this regard, according to a release from the Ministry of Science and Technology. Rajlakshmi Devi and Paramita Choudhury investigated the nutraceutical effects of aromatic Joha rice in their study.


They found linoleic acid (omega-6) and linolenic acid (omega-3), two unsaturated fatty acids. These necessary fatty acids, which the human body is unable to manufacture, can support several physiological processes. Additionally, the researchers discovered that when compared to the widely consumed non-scented version, scented Joha rice has a more balanced ratio of omega-6 to omega-3.


Additionally, they have produced rice bran oil, a patented product that they say is useful in the management of diabetes, using this Joha rice.
