Kolkata: The Bhabanipur by-poll preparation is hitting a high pitch after parties planned elaborate campaign rallies today in West Bengal. On Monday morning, the BJP planned an elaborate campaign in the Bhabanipur constituency, where Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is seeking re-election after she lost out to BJP’s Suvendu Adhikari in the West Bengal assembly elections.

As the BJP leaders continued to head forward led by Dilip Ghosh, Trinamool Congress (TMC) workers gathered at a distance to protest and raise slogans against the opposition party. BJP workers and Dilip Ghosh alleged that he was attacked by the TMC workers who also chanted slogans against him.

Videos have emerged on various social media platforms showing Dilip Ghosh being surrounded by protesters chanting slogans while his security personnel struggle through the rowdy crowd to protect him.

His security personnel are then seen pulling out their guns while protecting Dilip Ghosh. In one of the videos, at least two security officers are seen pointing their guns in the air to disperse the crowd even as they struggle to secure Dilip Ghosh.

Talking to the local media, Dilip Ghosh alleged that he was kicked and punched by the alleged TMC workers. On the other hand, TMC leader Madan Mitra spoke to a local channel and said that he received information that Dilip Ghosh and other leaders were entering the residences of Bhabanipur voters and threatening them.
