As per reports, the linkmen were allegedly extorting money from Namtola-based businessmen for a long time.

Digital Desk: Two suspected linkmen of the Naga militant and separatist group National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN) were apprehended by the police in the Namtola area of Charaideo district, Assam, on Friday. The men were identified as Morom Ali and Sanju Das. Both linkmen were apprehended following a raid carried out by the police on Friday.

As per reports, the linkmen were allegedly extorting money from Namtola-based businessmen for a long time. The linkmen collected the money on behalf of the Naga militant outfit NSCN.

According to reports, Morom Ali hails from Nagaon, while Sanju Das is a resident of Mon district, Nagaland.

A notorious wanted cadre of NSCN(K-YA) identified as David Konyak was arrested from the same area in the joint operation of the Indian Army and Assam Rifles in December last year. He was involved in many extortion and abduction-related activities.

Another NSCN-IM faction cadre was arrested in September last year from Tinsukia district. The cadre, identified as Rangassor Chakma from Arunachal Pradesh was apprehended with a large cache of ammunition.

Further investigation is underway.
