The 40-year-old player who led the Indian team for over a decade, is only behind Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, and Ali Daei in terms of the all-time leading goal-scorers list in men's football.

Digital Desk: In a shocking move, Indian football legend and former captain Sunil Chhetri decided to come out of International retirement to join the team in the upcoming FIFA international window, set to start in March 2025. All India Football Federation (AIFF) on Thursday announced Chhetri's return in Indian colours.

In a post on X, AIFF wrote, "The captain, leader, legend will return to the Indian national team for the FIFA International Window in March."

The Indian team will play two crucial matches on March 19 and 25, respectively. On March 19, the team will play an international friendly match against the Maldives as part of their preparations for the AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers Final Round. Following the match, they will face Bangladesh on March 25 in their opening match of the final round.

India's all-time leading goal-scorer Chhetri, who made his international debut in the year 2005, announced his retirement from international football in June last year with 94 goals.
