Digital Desk: The Varanasi police have arrested five people in connection with the theft of over 2 kg of gold, valued at approximately Rs 3 crore. The incident took place in the Thana Chauk area, where a locked house was targeted.


Varanasi’s DCP Crime, Sarvannan Thangamani, stated, “On 6th January , we received information about the theft of around 2 kg of gold from a locked residence. Following our investigation, five accused involved in the incident have been arrested. We have successfully recovered 2 kg 122 grams of gold from them, with an estimated value of Rs 3 crore.”


The police are continuing their investigation to determine if the accused are connected to other similar cases in the region. Authorities have assured that stringent action will be taken against those involved, and recovered gold will be returned to its rightful owners.


The swift recovery has been lauded as a significant success in curbing high-value thefts in the city.
