The two-day event was organized by Young Indians (Yi) in collaboration with the Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB).
The opening ceremony was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Speaker of the Assam Legislative Assembly, Shri Biswajit Daimary, who emphasized the importance of youth participation in shaping the future of Indian democracy. In his address, Shri Daimary highlighted the role of young leaders in preserving democratic values and encouraged the students to raise their voices and actively contribute to nation-building.
"We are here to witness the future leaders of India; today's session will be the start of something bigger, as the youth of today are the true representatives of our democratic values," said Shri Daimary in his opening address. "This event is not just an exercise in debating; it is a platform to learn, grow, and understand the functioning of our great democracy."
Across the two days, students participated in parliamentary simulations, engaging in debates, Question Hour, Zero Hour, and the presentation of bills, gaining a first-hand understanding of the functioning of India’s Parliament. The sessions fostered critical thinking, leadership skills, and an understanding of governance and public policy.
The closing ceremony was graced by Prof. Dr. Debabrata Das, Advisor, Higher Education, Government of Assam, who applauded the efforts of Yi in creating such an impactful platform for young minds. He stressed the importance of nurturing leadership skills early and equipping youth to address pressing societal challenges.
