Digital Desk: Recent reports have emerged stating that the Gauhati High Court acquitted all defendants in the gruesome murder that took place on August 15, 2004 Dhemaji bomb blast incident on Thursday.
It has come to light that the accused opposed the local court's decision at the high court, following which they were absolved of all wrongdoing.
The last hearing in the case was held on July 24, and the order was issued today.
The incident comprises a bomb explosion that took place on August 15, 2004, in Assam's Dhemaji district on the day of Independence Day.
The attack was carried out by the United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA), the deadly blast reportedly killed 14 young children and left several seriously injured.
Furthermore, a lower court convicted up to six people in the case identified as Dipanjali Burhagohain, Muhi Handique, Jatin Dubori, and Leela Gogoi received life sentences from the court.
In addition, two others, Prashanta Bhuyan and Hemen Gogoi, were sentenced to four years in prison.
The Gauhati High Court today overruled the lower court's ruling and released all of them.
