Digital Desk: Gulab Chand Kataria, the leader of the opposition in the Rajasthan Assembly, will become the next Governor of Assam in a notable reshuffle.
Professor Jagdish Mukhi is the current governor of the northeastern state, having taken office on October 10, 2017.
Gulab Chand Kataria is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). From 2014 to 2018, he was Rajasthan's home minister. He is a senior BJP leader who also serves on the party's central working committee.
Kataria accomplishes being the current Assam Governor at a time when other states' governorships are also newly appointed.
According to sources, as many as 13 Indian states will have new governors.
Meanwhile, reports claim that Droupadi Murmu, the President of India, has accepted the resignation of Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari.

"The following appointments shall take effect on the dates they take charge of their respective offices," according to a statement.
