J&K: Massive fire breaks out at Jamia Masjid in Drass

Digital Desk: A major fire broke out at the Jamia Masjid in Drass, Jammu, and Kashmir on Wednesday. Although the fire was put out, the mosque sustained significant damage.

The Indian Army, police, fire and emergency service, and other agencies all helped to put out the fire.

A Jamia Masjid guard said, "I was saddened to learn of the awful fire that occurred in one of Drass's oldest masjids. Drass is a delicate area, but the lack of a unified fire department is even more regrettable. Even if similar occurrences have occurred before, the administration in the Union Territory has not yet learned anything."

The fire was caused by an electrical short circuit, reports stated.
