Digital Desk: At least 78 new cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Assam, the highest number in the last three months. With the new number of cases, the tally reached 7,24,926, the National Health Mission (NHM) reported.

According to the report, the positive rate rose from 7.54 percent on Thursday to 7.84 percent on Friday.

According to the Friday update, there are now 468 active cases as compared to 425 the day before. The most cases, 64, were reported in the Kamrup (Metro) district, followed by 12 cases in the Kamrup (Rural) district and one case each in Goalpara and Biswanath.

There has been an increase in cases after a pause of more than three months, with 587 new cases reported since June 19.

It may be mentioned that Guwahati city is the primary aspect of the Kamrup Metro, which reported 444 cases all on its own.

According to data released on Sunday by the Union Health Ministry, India recorded 16,103 new coronavirus infections, bringing the country's total COVID-19 cases to 4,35,02,429, while the number of active cases rose to 1,11,711.

The data updated at 8 am reported that there were 31 more deaths, bringing the total to 5,25,199.
