Digital Desk: All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) president Badruddin Ajmal stirred controversy after he made the controversial suggestion that Muslim women in highly esteemed jobs like IAS, IPS, and the medical field should be required to wear the hijab during a recent rally in the Karimganj region of Assam.
According to Ajmal, women working in these sectors must wear the hijab in order for their Muslim identity to be acknowledged.
He asked, "If Muslim women don't know how to wear hijab or cover their hair, how will they be recognized as Muslims?"
In addition, Ajmal emphasized that he believed wearing a hijab is essential not just a choice. He stated, "Hijab is a must. Hair is the devil's thread, and makeup is the devil's work."
While visiting Karimganj to lay the foundation stone for a mosque and graveyard, the AIUDF chief said these things. This controversy surrounding Ajmal in the Barak region is not new; earlier, he gained notice for donning a traditional robe, the lungi, at a ceremony to lay the foundation stone in the North Karimganj constituency.
