  • The Forest Department launched an operation and arrested one poacher in Manas National Park

Digital Desk: In response to the presence of poachers in the Kukulung range of Manas National Park, the Forest Department launched an operation and arrested one poacher, identified as Numal Moshahari.


Numal Moshahari is a resident of Kumarsali village of Chirang.


Along with Numal's arrest, the department seized two firearms used in poaching activities. However, another poacher managed to escape from the scene.


The fleeing poacher, reportedly injured by gunfire, remains the target of an ongoing pursuit by the Forest Department.


According to the arrested poacher, he was accompanied by the injured poacher during the incident.


Reports indicate that the injured poacher fled into the jungle with a gunshot wound after the Forest Department engaged in gunfire.


The operation conducted on June 27, involved the use of 40 rounds of ammunition as part of the department's effort to curb poaching in the UNESCO Natural World Heritage Site.
