Digital Desk: Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Bhupen Borah sustained brutal injuries on Sunday in a physical assault on him during the ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ in Sonitpur district in Assam.

Earlier today, during the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Sonitpur, Rahul Gandhi's vehicle reportedly passed Jamugurihat, when the APCC leader was reportedly attacked. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) allegedly sent a team of "paid goons" to attack Borah, claims Assam Congress.

The APCC called the attack "demonic" and said on social media that Bhupen Borah was involved in one of the worst incidents in the political history of Assam.

Later, the police arrived in the area to bring the situation under control.

Taking to X, Assam Congress's post, "Chief Minister @himantabiswa's demonic attack on APCC President @BhupenKBorah by his paid Gundas is one of the worst incidents in the political history of Assam. The attack is a clear evidence of fear in the mind of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma."
