Digital Desk: The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) in Guwahati has issued a dense fog alert impacting Assam and neighboring Northeast states since January 9.

This alert is expected to last for three days, causing dense to very dense fog conditions in various districts, and hampering visibility and daily activities.

On January 9, affected districts included Tinsukia, Dibrugarh, Sivasagar, Majuli, Jorhat, Golaghat, Karbi Anglong, and West Karbi.

The alert expanded on January 10 to encompass Sivasagar, Charaideo, Majuli, Jorhat, Nagaon, Hojai, Morigaon, Darrang, Udalguri, Nalbari, Barpeta, Bongaigaon, Kokrajhar, Dhubri, South Salmara, Goalpara, Cachar, Karimganj, and Hailakandi.

On January 11, the RMC's fog alert is effective in the districts of Nalbari, Bongaigaon, Kokrajhar, Dhubri, South Salmara, and Goalpara.

All Northeast states, excluding Arunachal Pradesh, are likely to experience similar fog conditions, contributing to an increase in road accidents and disruptions to transportation services, including the Dibrugarh-New Delhi Rajdhani Express and transport in the Delhi-NCR region.

Authorities advise residents and travelers to stay informed and take necessary precautions during these challenging weather conditions.
