A conspiracy is being made against Rahul Gandhi for a fatal attack. The people of Assam are welcoming us.

Digital Desk: Assam MP Gaurav Gogoi claimed that Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is inciting tensions to hurt Rahul Gandhi.

The Kaliabar MP's remarks coincide with a string of conflicts that have occurred during the Assam portion of the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, the most recent of which included Congress party workers and police in Guwahati today.

"The chief minister of Assam has been creating conditions for Rahul Gandhi to be injured during the yatra for the past few days. Following an attack on Jairam Ramesh's car and Congress workers, Assam Congress President Bhupen Kumar Borah was also attacked and sustained injuries. The chief minister of Assam is hatching a plot to create unrest.

A conspiracy is being made against Rahul Gandhi for a fatal attack. The people of Assam are welcoming us.

Whatever the BJP is doing, they're giving us more strength and they don't realize that," Gogoi stated.

Assam Police and Congress supporters clashed on January 23, stopping the Rahul Gandh-led Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra from entering Guwahati, which led to an increase in tensions.

Congress workers protested after Rahul Gandhi's Nyay Yatra was refused permission to enter the city limits.

A criminal case against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for allegedly "provoking the crowd" was ordered by Assam Police by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma following a clash between Congress workers and police.
