Digital Desk: According to Union health ministry data updated on Thursday, India recorded 5,335 new instances of Covid19 on Wednesday, with a total active caseload of 25,587. This is the largest single-day increase in new cases since September 23rd of last year. 

The death toll has risen to 5,30,929, with 13 deaths reported from Karnataka and Maharashtra, one from Kerala and Punjab, and seven reconciled by Kerala, according to data updated at 8 a.m.   According to the report, the daily positivity rate is 3.32 percent, while the weekly positivity rate is 2.89 percent.

According to the ministry, the overall number of Covid cases is 4.47 crore (4,47,39,054). According to the health ministry website, active cases now account for 0.06 percent of total infections, with the national Covid recovery rate standing at 98.75 percent.

The number of persons who have recovered from the sickness has risen to 4,41,82,538 with a case fatality rate of 1.19 percent.  According to the ministry's website, the statewide immunisation effort has resulted in the administration of 220.66 crore doses of Covid vaccine.
