Minister Bora emphasized the medicinal properties and agricultural significance of 'Citrus Limon' during the declaration...

Digital Desk: Assam's Agriculture Minister, Atul Bora officially declared 'Citrus Limon' (Kaji Nemu) as the state fruit, putting an end to speculation about Assam's emblematic produce. The announcement, made in the legislative assembly, garnered both intrigue and approval, solidifying the identity of 'Citrus Limon' as a symbol of Assam.

Minister Bora emphasized the medicinal properties and agricultural significance of 'Citrus Limon' during the declaration.

With 15.90 hectares of dedicated cultivation in Assam, this citrus fruit plays a crucial role in the state's agricultural tapestry.

Notably, a substantial portion, totaling 70,000, is being exported abroad, showcasing its economic importance.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma praised the decision on Twitter, highlighting the unique aroma and antioxidant properties of 'Kaji Nemu' that enrich local cuisines. This move aligns with the government's focus on promoting self-dependency and boosting production.

The declaration not only honors Assam's agricultural heritage but also positions 'Citrus Limon' on the global fruit map. This recognition is expected to enhance the state's prominence in the agricultural sector, underlining the significance of Assam's citrus cultivation in the larger context of regional and international trade.
