Digital desk: On his birthday, September 17, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the National Logistics Policy at Vigyan Bhawan.

The logistic policy seeks to reduce logistic costs while enhancing the competitiveness of domestic products on the international market. India spends between 13 and 14 percent of its GDP on logistics expenses. While nations like Germany and Japan, who are renowned for their highly developed infrastructure and procedures for logistics, spend just about 8% to 9% of their GDP on logistics.

More than 20 government organisations, 40 partner government agencies (PGA), 37 export promotion councils, 500 certifications, more than 10,000 goods, and a $160 billion market are involved in the logistics industry.

India falls significantly behind nations like the United States and China, which are placed 14th and 26th, respectively, in the 2018 World Bank Logistics Index for logistics costs.
