Team India have received some bad news, firstly all-rounder Krunal Pandya got Covid-19 positive on July 27 and now, spinner Yuzvendra Chahal and Krishnappa Gowtham have reportedly tested positive for Covid-19.

India was forced to play the final two T20Is even after 8 players were deemed to be in close contact with Krunal Pandya because of which they were isolated. All the players were tested and Yuzvendra Chahal and Krishnappa Gowtham returned positive tests. Both players are asymptomatic. With the left players, India played the final T20 internationals against Sri Lanka.

"Yuzi and Gowtham have tested positive as the team was supposed to return by a charter flight to Bengaluru sans Krunal Pandya. But now as per rules, Gowtham and Yuzi will also have to be in seven-day isolation in Sri Lanka," a BCCI source in Colombo told PTI on conditions of anonymity.

Six players which include Hardik Pandya, Manish Pandey, Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav, Prithvi Shaw, and Deepak Chahar are free to depart the country. Prithvi Shaw and Suryakumar are supposed to be flown to the United Kingdom where they will join as replacement players as Avesh Khan and Washington Sundar got injured during the match.
