Digital Desk: Actor and MP of the Trinamool Congress Mimi Chakraborty has resigned from her position, citing dissatisfaction with the local party leadership in her area.
In the Lok Sabha elections of 2019, Mimi Chakraborty won victorious from Jadavpur.
The actress has given her resignation to Mamata Banerjee, the head of the Trinamool Congress.
She hasn't, however, submitted her resignation to the Speaker of the Lok Sabha, therefore this would not be considered her official resignation.
Mimi Chakraborty said to the reporters after she met with Mamata Banerjee, "Today, I met our party supremo." On February 13, I had given her notice of my resignation. I've realized over the years that politics is not my cup of tea."
When asked why Chakraborty submitted her resignation to Mamata Banerjee rather than the Speaker of the Lok Sabha as required by law, she replied, "Once I get the nod from the TMC, I will submit it to the Speaker."
She acknowledged that she wouldn't dispute that the local leadership was impeding her ability to make decisions.
It has been stated that Mimi Chakraborty will not "compromise on her mental peace". She vowed, "I will not be where I am not happy."
