BJP to contest from all 60 assembly seats in Meghalaya elections 2023

Digital Desk: The Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) in Meghalaya has declared that it will run in the impending 2023 assembly elections in each of the state's 60 constituencies.

Rituraj Sinha, the BJP's national secretary, announced this on Monday at the party office after receiving seven new members.

The slogan "Modi for development, BJP for Meghalaya" was used by the party to promote its recruitment campaign in Meghalaya.

"You need to dial it or make a call on this number, 8360006060. We'll begin the steps necessary for you to join the BJP in Meghalaya. I am aware of countless numbers of children, women, farmers, villagers, young educated professionals, doctors, and lawyers. People from all ages and backgrounds would turn out to show Prime Minister Modi that Meghalaya is ready to accept the Lotus symbol and his leadership today,"  Sinha said.

The BJP feels sorry for Meghalaya, according to the national secretary, and believes the state deserves more given the development efforts being made in comparison to Assam, which is a neighbouring state and has grown significantly over the past six years.

The BJP national secretary claims that Prime Minister Modi has changed the Look East policy into the Act East Policy. He simply avoids discussing the Northeast. He is the only Prime Minister in independent India to have made more than 50 trips to the Northeast. He has always provided something new, whether it be an airport, connectivity for the railroad or roads, or many other new things, according to Sinha.

Sinha claimed that under PM Modi, Meghalaya's share of central taxes will increase from 600 to 6000 crores in 2022, showing the PM's commitment to doing more for Meghalaya. "The portion of central taxes paid by Meghalaya has increased by ten times. Additionally, since 2014, the amount of support provided by the federal government to Meghalaya has increased by more than three times. The people of Meghalaya are the target of a determined endeavour under Prime Minister Modi," Sinha added.
According to the national secretary, the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana has provided free rice to up to 21 lakh Meghalayans, or about more than 2/3 of the state's population.

He further said that in rural and urban regions, homes have been provided for more than 70,000 people who lacked them. Already built and delivered under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana are more than 35,000 residences. Several others are ongoing. Under PM Modi's Jal Jeevan Mission, 2.6 lakh homes in Meghalaya, or 52% of the state's households, now have access to piped water.
