Digital Desk: After former Assam Youth Congress President Dr. Angkita Dutta accused the organization's national president Srinivas B V of harassment on Tuesday, the latter issued a legal notice to her, threatening legal action in the absence of a public apology.

She referred to Srinivas as "sexist" and "chauvinistic" in a tweet, and wrote, "How can a sexist and chauvinistic lead  @IYC torture and demean a woman every single time. What happened to @priyankagandhi ladki hoon ladk Shakti hoon."

In a string of tweets, she accused Srinivas of "continually" harassing her and discriminating against her on the basis of gender for six months.

She further blamed Rahul Gandhi of failing to take action after being made aware of the situation several months ago.

She stated that she met Rahul during the Jammu leg of the Bharat Jodo Yatra in January and told him about Srinivas' "mental harassment and degrading use of language."

"Despite my complaints, Srinivas has not been the subject of an investigation... I've been silent for months, waiting for them to take action against him, but no one appears to be interested. Srinivas is getting away with all kinds of misconduct under the pretense of his PR," Dutta said.

Dr. Angkita Dutta is the daughter of former Assam minister Anjan Dutta, who was also the president of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee. Angkita was a candidate for the Amguri constituency in the Assembly elections on a Congress ticket.

The legal notice, sent by Roopesh S Bhadauria, chairman of the IYC's legal cell, said that the claims are "politically motivated and completely false."

The notice claimed that her name had come up in the Sharda Chit Fund Scam and ED/PMLA cases and that she is "constantly in touch with" Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. He accused her of creating the charges "in order to generate an atmosphere of leaving Congress in order to have these cases closed."

He further said that Dutta made "baseless claims" against Srinivas on many occasions, with only the "fewest of proofs."

Bhadauria demanded that Dutta issue an apology statement on social media and to Srinivas' family immediately after receiving the notice, "failing which legal proceedings will be initiated against her."
