Digital Desk: Elon Musk has decided to appoint a new CEO for
Twitter
Musk made the comments while testifying in a Delaware court on
Wednesday to defend against charges that his USD 56 billion compensation
package at Tesla was based on easy-to-attain performance benchmarks and was
approved by a compliant board of directors, according to the New York Post,
citing Reuters.
Musk planned to complete an organizational restructuring this week
and to limit his time at Twitter, as Tesla investors have grown increasingly
anxious about Musk's time commitment to turning around the microblogging site.
"Following the acquisition, an initial burst of activity is required to reorganise the company. But I intend to spend less time on
Twitter after that "Musk stated during his testimony.
Twitter has fired nearly 3,700 individuals under Musk's leadership in the last two weeks, and a wave of high-ranking executives have quit.
And now, according to TechCrunch, he has given Twitter employees
an ultimatum: complete "very intense" work or quit.
According to The Washington Post, Musk issued a late-night email
to remaining Twitter employees, offering them the option of resigning and
receiving three months' severance pay, or committing to a "hardcore"
work environment.
Employees at Twitter have until 5 p.m. Eastern time on Thursday to
decide.
"Going
forward, we will need to be really hardcore to build a breakthrough Twitter 2.0
and succeed in an increasingly competitive market," the letter adds.
"This will include working long hours at a high level of intensity. Only
outstanding achievement will result in a passing grade." In October 2022, Musk
assumed ownership of Twitter.
