Digital Desk : A new controversy has erupted between singers Diljit Dosanjh and AP Dhillon. It took centre stage during AP Dhillon's concert in Chandigarh where he accused Diljit of blocking him on Instagram.
On Friday, Maria Ressa and Dmitry Muratov have conferred the prestigious Nobel Peace Prize for the year 2021. Both of them are journalists. They have been awarded for their courageous fight to sustain the freedom of speech and expression in their respective countries.
Maria Ressa, 58, hails from the Philippines. She is popularly known as the first Filipino journalist and author. She is also the co-founder of an online news portal known as Rappler. In recent times, Rappler brought to attention the incumbent president Rodrigo Duterte government’s multiple controversial and corrupt activities. It also ran an anti-drug campaign in the country.

Dmitry Muratov, 59, on the other hand, is the editor-in-chief and founder of the Russian newspaper Novaya Gazeta. The paper is known for its in-depth coverage of anti-human rights activities, misuse of power and corruption within the Russian government.

The Nobel Committee in a statement said that both Ressa and Muratov are “representative of all journalists who stand up for this ideal in a world where democracy and freedom of the press face increasingly adverse conditions.”
The Nobel Peace Prize, which includes a prize money of $1.14 million, was selected from 329 nominees. This year it had the third highest number of nominees ever.
