Cambridge Dictionary updates the definition of 'man' and 'woman'
The definitions of "man" and "woman" have been revised in the Cambridge Dictionary...

Digital Desk: The Cambridge Dictionary's definitions of "man" and "woman" have been modified to include all, regardless of gender at birth.

While the updated definition of'man' includes "an adult who lives and identifies as a male even though they may have been said to have a different sex at birth," the updated definition of 'woman' includes "an adult who lives and identifies as female even though they may have been said to have a different sex at birth."

However, the prior definition, which refers to a woman as a "adult female human being," remains in place.

According to the Cambridge Dictionary, "she was the first trans woman elected to a national position" for a woman.

"Their doctor advised them to live as men for a period before undergoing surgical transition," according to one example of the modified definition of a man.

Some remarks from furious internet users:

"In October, our editors added this to the entry on woman. They carefully examined the term woman's usage patterns and decided that this meaning is one that English learners should be aware of in order to assist their grasp of how the language is used. The original definition for woman stays untouched and is still 'an adult female human being.' "The Cambridge Dictionary confirmed.

Meanwhile, the improvements were made in October, and the internet is not pleased. On Twitter, individuals chastised the Cambridge Dictionary for the modification.
