Digital Desk: Today, after the Dispur Cabinet meeting at Janata Bhawan in Guwahati led Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma addressed the press, highlighting several important decisions.
Key Cabinet Decisions:-
Panchayat & Rural Development (P&RD) reforms occurred through amendments made to the Assam Panchayat Financial Act. The amended Assam Panchayat Financial act can no longer collect fees from street vendors in rural markets.
The Public Works & Building Department will split into two distinct departments to optimize performance. Additionally, every constituency of Assam will soon have a Block Primary Health Centre (PHC).
Support for government- The state government announcement provides farmers with a ₹250 bonus per quintal of paddy starting from April 1st. The additional payment of ₹500 will be available to mustard farmers per quintal of crop harvested.
Medical college in Darrang- The Government plans to construct a medical college within on bighas of land located in Darrang district.
Other Important Decisions:-
The renewal deadline for ration shops has been extended to June 30th.
The policy change allows male parents to access infant care benefits through child care leave.
Child care leave can be opted for only by those employees who are 'single male parents' - like widowers, divorcees, or unmarried men - who are expected to take up the responsibility as a single-handed parent.
The Central Government decided to end the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) from Dibrugarh district, even though public restrictions will continue for Tinsukia, Charaideo, and Sivasagar districts.
