    Assam records 270 fresh COVID-19 cases, nine deaths in 24 hours

    GUWAHATI: Assam recorded nine new COVID-19 deaths and 270 fresh cases over the past 24 hours.





    The 270 new cases pushed the tally to 5,97,344 in the state, while the COVID-19 death toll rose to 5,788 with the nine new fatalities reported on Friday.





    A total of three deaths were reported from Golaghat, two from Kamrup (M) while Jorhat and Karimganj districts recorded one death each.





    On the other hand, 90 fresh COVID-19 cases were reported from Kamrup (M), followed by 25 from Jorhat, 16 from Darrang and 15 from Sonitpur districts.





    The new cases were detected out of 55,049 samples tested, with the daily positivity rate decreasing to 0.49 per cent from 0.79 per cent on Thursday while the cumulative tests conducted in the state so far reached 2,28,68,787.





    The number of active COVID-19 cases declined to 3,818 from the previous day’s 4,034.

    The number of COVID-19 recoveries rose to 5,86,391 as 477 more people recuperated from the disease during the period. The COVID-19 recovery rate now stands at 98.17 per cent.





    The cumulative COVID-19 vaccine beneficiaries increased to 2,15,94,309 which include 1,72,05,985 receiving the first dose and 43,88,324 the second dose.
